Peira (Berlin/Leipzig/Vienna) develops artistic projects in collaborations. The members of Peira met in 2009 at the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies in Giessen and worked under the name ongoing project (2014 – 2021). Since 2021, Chris, Alex, Lisa, and Alma have been active as Peira. Their interdisciplinary works range from stage performances to audio walks, discussion formats, and sociocultural projects (political and cultural education). All of Peira's works pursue the goal of questioning societal conditions. At the same time, they do not stop at criticism but create feasible utopias and sustainable network work. Internally, Peira has chosen the path of a solidarity-based economy that functions as independently as possible from performance targets.

The members' works have been presented in contexts such as the Künstlerhaus Mousonturm, Theater am Werk, Werk X, HAU, Schwankhalle Bremen, Festspielhaus Hellerau Dresden, Kunstfest Weimar, zeitraumexit Mannheim, Ashkal Alwan and Mansion Blatt Beirut, D-Caf Cairo, Lofft Leipzig, Stadttheater Giessen, Schaubühne Lindenfels, united intimacy theatre Riga, RBB, SWR, Deutschlandfunk.

Alexander Bauer was born in Vienna in 1987. Alexander studied applied theater studies at the JLU Giessen (M.A.), as well as at the L’École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts de Paris-Cergy and the Lebanese Association for Plastic Arts, Ashkal Alwan in Beirut. Among other things, he co-directed with the independent theater collective KGI the play Die Policey – Versuch über die Sicherheit (Ringlokschuppen Mülheim), co-directed with the theater collective Theatrale Subversion and technical and artistic direction of the 360° music theater performance Lebende Minus Tote and the associated 360° film (Festival Hall HELLERAU Dresden) as well as artistic. Management and direction of the plays Das verkommene Land (Schaubühne Lindenfels, Leipzig), Im Herzen der Krähen (WerkX Petersplatz, Vienna) and Das Kitzelmonster (Theater am Werk, Vienna). Alexander is also an expert in XR design, programmer and project manager. His work is about the dynamic relationship between technology, theater and activism.

Alma Wellner Bou grew up in Spain and Germany. She currently works as an artist, project manager and curator in Berlin. Alma studied in Giessen, Paris and Beirut. She completed her bachelor's and master's degrees with a focus on “art and politics” and “performative practice” at the Institute for Applied Theater Studies in Giessen. The focus of her artistic work at Peira is on the award-winning feminist girls' work in Berlin (SISTERQUEENS), the curation of artistic, performative conversation series and international collaborations. She is also a workshop leader in the area of cultural education. In addition to her freelance work, Alma has been working as a curator and project manager at Ulme 35, a meeting and cultural center, since November 2021. She is chairwoman of the association Kollabo e.V., which supports self-employed women* in Berlin.

Chris Herzog, born in Nordhausen in 1988, lives and works in Leipzig as a director, dramaturge, project manager and curator. Chris studied applied theater studies (M.A.) in Giessen and took part in the postgraduate program 'Home Workspace' at Ashkal Alwan Beirut/Lebanon in 2014/15. In addition to his artistic work, he is involved in cultural and political education. The critical examination of radicalization processes and inhumane ideologies - racism, anti-Semitism and conspiracy narratives - is formative for his work.

Lisa Schwalb, grew up in Baden-Württemberg, lives and works in Berlin in the areas of socioculture, curation and political and cultural education. She studied applied theater studies in Giessen and spent a semester abroad at the Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi Istanbul (modern dance, photography, video and combined art). This was followed by the postgraduate Master Art in Context at the Berlin University of the Arts with a focus on artistic work with social groups and artistic work in public spaces. She completed her master's degree with the theory-practice work “Formular Art”. She acquired further qualifications in the field of cultural education as part of the “Context School” further training and the ARTPAED+ certificate course in cultural education. The focus of her artistic work at Peira is on feminist work with girls (SISTERQUEENS) and the critical design of communication and experience spaces (space for us). In addition to her work at Peira, Lisa Schwalb also works as head of art, culture and education at Interkulturanstalten Westend e.V. (https://interkulturanstalten.de/), an intercultural meeting and cultural center. Lisa Schwalb is co-founder of the feminist platform SISTERQUEENS and the Kollabo e.V. association and the contact person for public relations issues at Peira.
